The Museum offers guided tours of the permanent exhibition in the Department of Private Collections (in Russian). Foreign visitors can ask for assistance in the Guided Tours Office situated in the main building of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.
The guided tours introduce visitors to the private collections received from donors since the 1980s. At the present time the collection in this Department consists of over 7,000 works of Russian and West-European art from the 15th-20th centuries. These include paintings, drawings, sculpture, applied art and art-photographs. The collections differ from each other as regards both their themes and structure. They are divided up on the basis of the types of art they consist of and they include some collections of art with a single focus and others based on a common theme.
For individual visitors the Museum offers subscriptions for series of guided tours entitled "Conversations on Art in the galleries of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts". Sessions are arranged in the galleries of the Department of Private Collections on Thursday evenings at 19:00.
